Danya took her first trip to serve in Mexico in the summer of 1989.  As a Junior in High School, she joined her Youth Group and headed South of the border.  During that trip she discovered a desire for serving the underprivileged and marginalized children in Mexico.  After a second trip back during her Senior year, she graduated from High School, married, and began her family.

In the fall of 2010, many years and two children later, that desire re-emerged as a passion to "do something" and she began returning to Mexico frequently with groups from her church.

Most recently, before moving to The Refuge in Tijuana, she was the Director of a Real Estate School in Las Vegas.  She also had a successful career as a Realtor and before that she spent many years working for In-N-Out Burger both in management and as a Divisional Trainer.
